July 29, 2016
It is with great sadness that I report to you the passing of our director, Jim Jakubiak. Jim was stricken this morning while attending the BCA Nationals in Allentown, PA. Please join me in expressing our sympathy to his wife Lynn and son Josh.
He will be sorely missed.

Calvin Hugins
Cal Hugins, our member from New Haven, CT., passed away Monday August 15th at the age of 80. Cal was an avid Buick fan and possessed a vast knowledge of all things Buick. We express our condolences to Cal's family.

Please note we now have a page dedicated to the 2017 Northeast Regional which we are hosting. Information will be posted as it becomes available. _________________________________

Like Buicks? Want to meet like-minded individuals? Then consider joining the Upstate New York Chapter of the Buick Club of America. We are based in the Capital District area but have members in the surrounding communities as well. We even have a member from the state of Vermont! We enjoy driving our cars so a lot of our activities include a driving tour of some sort. Past driving tours have taken us north to Plattsburgh, over to Stockbridge, MA, and into the mountains of Vermont. We also hold an annual cruise-in at Goldstein Buick in Albany. We use it to kick off the summer and open it to any and all cars, as it is a fundraiser for local charity. We hold a summer picnic and Christmas party with little or no cost to attending members. Our meetings are generally held in the winter months, usually the third Sunday of the month, and we try to hold them at interesting locations. Our quarterly newsletter, Upstate Update, goes out to all chapter members. And, oh yea, you will usually find some of us at the local cruise-ins in the summer. Like I said, we like to drive our cars.

If we sound like the club for you, check us out. Contact one of the officers for further information.

 June 18th

at Cook Park
Cruise-In to Summer 8 has come and gone. Over 150 cars enjoyed a beautiful day at the park. As is usually the case, the Chinese auction had some great items available and Dinosaur Bar-B-Que and Mr. Ding-A-Ling supplied the food. Goldstein Buick displayed some of the latest & greatest from the ranks of Buick and GMC, and the South Colonie High robotics team was there to show us what fun we can have with robots. Members Dick & Barb Andrews chose this event to debut their recently acquired 1921 Buick Model Six - 44 previously owned by former member Tom Black. What a beauty!
We had our best year yet as we donated over $2000 to the Boys and Girls Clubs! Thanks to all who helped us achieve this goal.

 August 27th

               Chapter Picnic at Cook Park

Our annual chapter picnic is August 27th. It is at a new location this year, the Sharon Drive pavilion at Cook Park in the Village of Colonie. This is the same park our Cruise-In to Summer show was held, but at a different pavilion. The picnic is taking place rain or shine. Hours are from 10am to whenever.
Directions are listed below.

As in the past, this is a free event for chapter members and their immediate families. If you plan on attending please let us know so we can buy the appropriate amount of food and drink. We supply hot dogs, hamburgers, corn, chips, etc., that sort of thing. However, please feel free to bring a dish of your own to share.

Please RSVP by Sunday, August 21st. Please also indicate if you will be bringing a dish to share and we are always looking for lawn games to play. You can either contact me at or Tony D'Amelio at Hope you all can make it!
